Barefoot   Today I ran barefoot. It's the only way to run. You don't know freedom until you've run without shoes. Without soles weighing you down. Or laces tying you back. Run without inhibitions.

   Today I ran down hills and across busy streets. Feet pounding against hot asphalt. Running through cool, damp, grass. Balancing on curbs. And jogging along walls .

   Today I ran down crowded sidewalks, shoes in hand, not returning glances. Silent questions hang heavy in the air. They watch me as I make my way down the street. I zig-zag past trash bins and over recycle bins. The hurdles of city life.

 
Numb“Numb”

You unfocus your eyes
and stare into space,
a dull blank expression
reflects on your face.
You hear people talking
but not what they say.
Somebody asks you
if you are okay.
You nod without thinking,
an absent reply,
looking right through them,
not meeting their eye.
Life has just taken
a sudden detour,
leaving you helpless,
scared and unsure.
You’re totally senseless-
blind, deaf, and dumb-
completely defenseless,
utterly numb...
Oh is it? Your eyes execute a perfected spark which ripples through the air and shatters into me, coursing through my veins and causing new intensity. The feeling is unique, irregular, passionate. I reply upon it with a steady gaze. Heat flares upon my cheek's. I feared my embarrassment was imminent. You cock your head to the side and present that profound grin of yours, it shows hints of a possible smirk. You're highly aware of what it does to me, stunning me. Rooted to the spot. The light taps of your footsteps pound through my head and echo upon the room. I feel the heat ablaze more, I suddenly wish for my presence here to subside.  That smile of y

i call you this, because
sometimes this body reminds me
of candle wax; melting around a wick as
heat erupts in my throat, pounding
out to my limbs, each thread-thin muscle in each
reposed fingertip, and of course the
prints of the skin so shriveled in the steam –
unique as snowflakes, delicate as shells.

it's a wonder i don't shrink with age,
but i like to think i do indeed glow
with my voice all curled and unfurling;
tongue red of the wartime flag;
or even with my eyes beaming into
you, glossy like riverbed pebbles at noon as you might say,
wondering what each movement means.

A GirlThere's this girl I hear so many things about and so many things that can't be said. It's strange how people describe her.

From what I know, she sleeps on her cracked wheat mattress. But, she doesn't sleep; rather she stares through construction paper darkness as her ears listen to her pineapple pillows. She has terracotta skin and a paper-bag face.

As she lies under lead blankets and heats up, she has green-apple sweat as her purple-glass eyes flit about her yellow nightmares.

I wonder who she is; this chocolate-covered-cherry flavored girl that has a soap bubble appearance to those that have heard of her. Wherever she walks, daisies die
cut shortlike a blossom
felled by the
frosts of November

I will sleep
and dream
of spring

One day, when you return to considering more artists with whom to collaborate (as I understand you're not taking anymore inquiries currently) I hope you'll contemplate the possibility of creating one with me? I'd be so honored if you were to keep me in mind. Collaborating recently with Alec, Rowan, and Cindy has been such a joy for me, sharing art in that manner with you, with the real friendship we've forged, would be simply amazing. :nod: :hug:
